During a press conference, Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg said that WhatsApp is one of the best ways to connect 1-billion people around the world. Mark made a proposal to buy this app from Koum (CEO and Co-founder of WhatsApp) on 9 February 2014 (Sunday). The 2 agreed for this huge price ($16 billion) only days later.

Analysts asked Zuckerberg and Koum if the deal was made for ads that were coming in WhatsApp. For this, Koum responded that both the companies still focus to grow people than the amount of cash made.
